"Max connections reached", "connection limit exceeded" or "too many users" — these errors all mean the same thing: your account already has the maximum number of streams running.
What a connection limit means
Each plan allows a set number of simultaneous streams. With iBest UK IPTV, choose 1, 2, 3 or 4 simultaneous connections with any subscription length. A connection is used whenever a device is playing a channel, film or catch-up programme.
| Counts as a connection | Doesn't count |
|---|---|
| A TV playing a live channel | An app installed but closed |
| A phone playing a film | Browsing the guide (in most apps) |
| Each tile in a multi-view screen | A device that's switched off |
Why providers apply limits
Each stream uses server capacity. Limits keep the service fast for everyone and stop logins being shared widely.
How to check your limit
It's shown on our pricing page for each plan, and in many apps under Account info or User info (look for "Max connections" and "Active connections").
What happens when you hit the limit
The new stream won't start, or another device stops. Close a stream on another device and try again.
The ghost connection problem
If a device loses Wi-Fi, is switched off at the plug or the app crashes, the server may think the stream is still running for a few minutes. To clear it:
- Fully close the app on other devices (don't just press Home).
- Wait 2–3 minutes.
- Restart the device you want to use.
Multi-view uses more connections
Watching four channels in a split screen uses four connections. If you love multi-view on match days, choose a plan with enough connections. See IPTV multiscreen.
What does a household need?
| Household | Typical simultaneous screens | Suggested plan |
|---|---|---|
| Single viewer | 1–2 | Starter (2) |
| Couple | 2 | Starter or Premium |
| Family with children | 3–4 | Premium (3) or Pro (4) |
| Large household / multi-view fans | 4–5 | Pro or Ultimate |
Working within your limit
- Close apps on devices you're not watching.
- Don't leave a tablet playing in an empty room.
- Avoid multi-view on secondary screens.
When to upgrade
If you hit the limit regularly, upgrading costs less than running two subscriptions. Message support and we'll move you to a plan with more connections, taking remaining time into account.
